Join the discs

Hold the discs together, wrong sides facing, and join with sc through both layers around two thirds of the circumference.

  1. With Plum, sc through both discs for 48 sts — this closes the bottom and both sides. (48 sc sts)
  2. Fasten off Plum. Join Peach Sorbet at the opening and sc 24 across the front disc only. Fasten off. (24 sc opening (about 15 cm of edge) sts)
  3. Repeat the 24 sc edging on the back disc's opening edge. Fasten off. (24 sc sts)

Strap — Plum

  1. Ch 177 — at this gauge (16 sc = 10 cm) that is about 110 cm. Hold the chain across your body before you go further and add or remove chains to suit your height. (176 ch sts)
  2. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (176 sc sts)
  3. Ch 1, turn. Sc in BLO of each st across. (176 sc sts)
  4. Repeat row 3 once more (3 rows total). Fasten off, leaving 30 cm tails at both ends. (176 sc x 3 rows ≈ 110 cm sts)
  5. Sew each strap end flat against the inside of a side seam, 3 sc below the opening. Stitch a 2 cm square of overlap and cross the stitching for strength. (— sts)

Finishing

  1. Optional closure: sew a magnetic snap centred inside the opening, 2 sts down from the edge, or hand-sew a 15 cm zip behind the edging. (— sts)
  2. Optional lining: measure the finished discs, cut two matching fabric circles with an added 1 cm seam allowance, sew the lower two-thirds together, and turn under and stitch the opening hems inside the crochet edging. (— sts)
