Back Loop Only (BLO) — crochet stitch tutorial

Creates a crisp fold line — this is how a flat bag base turns up into a wall at a sharp 90°.

UK terminology: back loop only

How to work it

1. Look at the top of the stitch: two loops form a V.
2. Insert the hook under only the loop furthest from you.
3. Complete the stitch as normal. A visible ridge forms on the front.

Tips

• One BLO round at the base-to-side transition is worth more than any amount of blocking.
