Surface Slip Stitch (surface sl st) — crochet stitch tutorial
Draws crisp lines, smiles and outlines on a finished piece without any sewing.
UK terminology: surface slip stitch
How to work it
- With the working yarn behind the fabric, pull a slip knot to the front through the starting gap, leaving the knot behind and a loop on the hook. Keep a tail to weave in.
- Insert the hook through the next gap from the front, catch the working yarn behind the fabric, and draw it through the gap and the loop on the hook.
- Continue — it looks like an embroidered chain line.
- At the end, cut the yarn, pull the tail through the last loop, take it to the back and weave in both ends.
Tips
- Keep it loose or the fabric will gather along the line.
