Half Double Crochet (hdc) — crochet stitch tutorial

Taller than sc, still dense. Great for bag bodies that need to grow fast but stay firm.

UK terminology: half treble (htr)

How to work it

1. Yarn over, insert the hook into the next stitch.
2. Yarn over, pull up a loop — 3 loops on the hook.
3. Yarn over, pull through all 3 loops.

Tips

• Working hdc in the 'third loop' (the horizontal bar behind the stitch) creates a knit-look ridge.
