Bobble Stitch (bobble (5-dc)) — crochet stitch tutorial
Squishy 3D dots. The signature of the bobble bucket bag.
UK terminology: bobble (5-tr)
How to work it
- In one stitch, work 5 incomplete dc (stop each with 2 loops on the hook) — 6 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops.
- Ch 1 loosely to lock the bobble (this ch is not counted as a stitch).
Tips
- Bobbles pop out on the side you are NOT working from. Work bobble rounds with the wrong side facing you so the bobbles appear on the right side (Sarah Maker, 'How to Crochet the Bobble Stitch'). Working from the right side pushes them to the inside — push them out with your thumb as you close each one if you must work that way.
- Count carefully: a bobble occupies exactly 1 stitch of the round.
